FAQ

Why was this site created?

There are a few motivations around why this site was created. First, goalbots on reddit are pretty popular for a few subreddits but as a developer of one of those bots, it is really difficult to manage. Mainly the difficulty lies in collecting new goals and uploading them somewhere that a goalbot could then use. The site originally was created to allow the community of a given team the ability to help upload goals reducing the burden on an admin.

Another main motivation is to have a central repository of all goals for a particular club. Most of the time community members would like to re-watch entire matches. Although these are not entire matches they can at least enjoy goals from the past

How would I use the site?

Once you signup and create a username and password you can view your favorite football team's goals for all seasons that are supported. for those matches that don't yet have an uploaded and approved goal you can also find that goal online via mp4 video or gif and upload that goal for approval.

What is in my user profile?

There is a pretty basic user profile that will allow you to pick your favorite club, reset your password, as well as select a few notification options. The notification options include:

Product Updates

The data source used to pull in goal information automatically also provides a significant amount of other pieces of data. As new ideas come up and changes are made to the application this just indicates you want to be notified of those changes. This is the only setting enabled by default

Willing to share your feedback

The community will drive the development and changes on the platform. Enabling this option just means you are willing to be emailed to share your feedback on the system. There are two main you would be reached output for your feedback. First, periodically you might be notified to gather whatever feedback we can get from the community. Second, if there is a specific feature or new update that is being developed we might reach out to get the communities opinion on designs and the feature itself.

Willing to potentially contribute to the project

Currently, there are some costs to operate the site. All of those are being covered but who knows what the future holds. In the future, it could become too expensive to manage. At that point, the community might need to help or the site could get shut down. This just indicates that if we ever get to that point you would be okay to receive an email asking to contribute financially to the community.

What am I looking at when I first log in?

This is the main homepage of the app. Here you will see be able to select your favorite club to then view or upload new goal highlights. You can view any other club goals as well.

Once I select a club...now what?

After you choose a club you will be dropped into a page specific for that club. That means you can see all of the current seasons available for that team. Once you click into a season you will see a list of every match that club had. Clicking on a given match you can then view an approved goal or you can upload a goal highlight if there are no approved goals selected.

How do goals get approved?

Each club can have one or many administrators who will be able to review all submissions and select one submission to be 'approved.' Once a goal gets an approved submission as members of the community navigate back to a particular match rather than having the option to upload another goal you will see the approved goal submission.

How do I become an admin?
